Everything Good About Windows 10

The first thing to know about Windows 10 is that it came out after Windows 8. That’s right this one is so much more advanced than version 8 they had to bump up the number. There are indeed some great improvements to Windows 10 and here are some of them. If you haven’t made the upgrade already the process is free and relatively painless.

The Start Menu is Back

One of the most annoying things about Windows 8 was the way you had to get to the start menu. In order to go to most programs you had to go out of Windows 8 to another screen. That’s not the case with Windows 10. You can see the start menu pop up in the side and customise it with the applications and apps you want to see for easy access. If you were one of the few that enjoyed the modern apps that Windows 8 featured, it is still an option.

Useful on More Devices

Windows 10 will run on more devices than ever before. You can easily use the operating system on tablets, cell phones, laptops, and desktops. This is convenient for those that love Windows and want to use it as much as possible. The new Microsoft Edge which is a replacement for Internet Explorer is a lot faster and has gotten much better reviews as a useful browser.

Some Technological Improvements

The addition of a voice controlled assistant called Cortana is something a lot of people like. Like Siri you can program her to know your voice and listen to what you need for hands free operation of your Windows operating device. One cool thing about this feature is that you can dictate emails to her and she’ll type and send them. It’s a multi-tasker’s dream. The snap in feature will allow you to put apps side by side to easily see research and write at the same time or watch videos while you browse the internet. This Windows version will also allow you to stream your Xbox One games to a different room of the house and play on your Windows device.

While Windows 10 is still ironing out a few kinks, including automatic updates that some people don’t like, it is a vast improvement over Windows 8 and proves itself worthy of skipping a whole number. It is a great system for getting work accomplished and multi-tasking which is this generation’s favourite thing to do. As the operating system continues to update and figure itself out it will become even better. Make sure you check out more information about Windows and all things IT related on our website.
